Visiting Deo May Strawberry Farm: A Review (2025)

One of Vietnam’s Strawberry Capital Cities

During my one-week stay in Dalat, I lived outside of the city centre, tucked cozily on top of one of the many mountainous perches offered by the terrain. May Trang Villa was close to many farms in the area, and Deo May Strawberry Farm was on that list. After taking a very short Grab scooter ride over, I walked down the gorgeous path that the family had put together, leading to a beautiful farm overlooking the city.

Dalat is known for its natural beauty, being named a city of flowers, of strawberries, and being filled with fruit, vegetable, and coffee farms. During your visit to this amazing city, you must visit one of these farms, enjoy eating some of the freshest ingredients out there, and take in the gorgeous landscape around you.

What Makes Strawberries in Dalat Special

Strawberries have become one of Dalat’s claims to fame, thanks in large part to the city’s cool climate and volcanic soil. Originally introduced to the native Vietnamese population by the French during colonial times, the berries have largely been integrated into the identity of the city.

Over time, the local farmers developed cultivation methods that produced smaller, more fragrant berries than typical. Dalat is surrounded by strawberry farms that you can visit for free, where you can hand-pick strawberries or sample other strawberry-based goodies like smoothies, jams, and dried snacks. If you love this fruit, you’ll love it here.

Deo May Farm: Strawberry Picking, Prices

When I arrived at the farm, I was immediately greeted by a very friendly staff member. Jessi had just moved to Dalat recently from Ho Chi Minh, where she was studying for a degree in botany. I believe she was here to wrap up her degree, with some hands-on experience cultivating and working on the farm. She gave me a brief walk through the farm grounds, and let me know that I could just sit and take in the view if I wanted to. The view, by the way, is stunning.

Walking down to the berry picking area, I grabbed a basket and she let me know that the berries cost about 250k VND/kg which is about the norm for the area. There are several fields to pick these from, all of which can be accessed via a clear path in the farm. There are a decent amount of steps/elevation, so older visitors just be a little careful. In terms of the strawberry quality, they were good, but not too plentiful when I arrived.

It’s recommended you go earlier in the mornings to pick.

In terms of drinks, they offer coffee, matcha, strawberry smoothies, all at reasonable prices. I ordered the strawberry smoothie, about 85k VND, and Jessi would bring it up shortly afterwards, alongside a free cup of herbal tea, both of which were amazing.

Drinking these, sitting atop the mountain, looking at the views below, seeing other people pick strawberries, this was one of my core memories of my trip here. I would certainly recommend others to consider visiting this farm if they’re thinking about checking out a strawberry farm on their stay in Da Lat!
